swollen feet & eating healthy

Yesterday my feet were really swollen....so i mentioned this to my chiropractor and she told me to switch the brand of chicken i buy because to keep that chicken longer life on the shelf to preserve it they inject it with a lot of salt and other crap!! (we were buying the big frozen sacks from sam's club or wal mart) so she suggested that we buy "smart chicken or bare chicken" from Hy Vee and not to eat much ground beef and try ground turkey.

Then she gave me a list of foods that are rich in Potassium
Lima Beans 955mg
winter squash 896mg
spinach 839mg
prunes 828mg
papaya 781mg
banana (gross) 555mg
brussel sprouts 504mg
molasses 498mg
cantaloupe 494mg
melon 461mg
avocado 450mg
potato, baked with skin 422mg
apricots, dried 407mg
tomatoes 400mg
raisins 363mg
kiwi 252mg

It's really sad that all the foods that i eat or thought were healthy ....are not...because they are coated with crap or injected with crap to keep longer on the self!!!! If you guys have any suggestions for me and my family or any good recipes that are apparently healthier then what we are eating :)

  1. We use to by the smart Chicken from HyVee and loved it, however at Sam's club I found they have organic chicken and they are all wrapped separate.

  2. From the person that used to get disgusted by the mere fact that something was organic.

  3. If you do use ground beef, try to buy the one that is 93/7 or 97/3, that is 7% or 3% fat, instead of an 80/20 which is 20% fat. It is a little more pricey, but tastes better and is healthier. You can also buy organic chicken tenderloins, skinless/boneless at Hyvee and Wal Mart, they are excellent! We used to buy those big bags of frozen chicken breast at Wal Mart, but they are so bland compared to the organic fresh stuff. We have been eating whole grain bread for about 4 years now. I just discovered that if you buy it at Aldi, there is a brand called L'Oven Fresh for $1.79 per loaf, and it is whole grain with 4 grams of fiber in one slice. Usually for this quality at Wal Mart or Hyvee, you have to pay at least $3. Try to stay away from anything with high fructose corn syrup, things like coke, ice cream, candy, cakes, etc. have this in it. If you like ice cream but don't want the calories, Blue Bunny makes awesome frozen yogurt in several flavors that have barely any fat and calories compared to ice cream. Whole wheat pasta and brown rice are other good things to have instead of regular pasta and white rice. At first, the pasta will taste different, but you get used to it quickly.
